ORGANIC BABY UNIVERSITY: PRODUCTS WE LOVE!
BEABA BABYCOOK
I have been dying to share about making your own baby food. So many moms would like to make baby safe and nutritious food but feel it will just be such a chore…and moms are BUSY! We all know this! This has been one of my life-saving products for making safe, healthy, nutritious and INEXPENSIVE baby food! You can buy s small variety of organic fruits and veggies on a Sunday and take 45 minutes (NOT EVEN THE WHOLE 45 MINUTES! ) and make your baby’s food for a whole week! I promise! And this is the tool that will help you do it- The BEABA BABYCOOK!
To tell you a little more about it. It is a steamer, blender, warmer and defroster all in one! Quickly steam cook vegetables, fruits and meats in 15 minutes or less, while preserving their vitamins and flavors. The water pools in the bottom while steaming so you can use this water for pureeing and all the vitamins that are lost into the water are put right back into the food. You can puree and blend food smooth, chunky or anywhere in between for baby. You can reheat or defrost precooked foods too. Clean up is quick and easy with a top-rack dishwasher safe bowl and basket. (Although I always recommend NEVER putting any plastic in the dishwasher personally. But you can if you like). You can store some of the food in used baby jars in the fridge (I get mine on Ebay) and don’t let the food touch the lid or freeze it in safe baby food containers.
So with all of the nasty chemicals out there in plastics, let’s talk about what it is made of …and what it is NOT made of!
The outer bowl is made from unbreakable, Bisphenol-A free copolyester and the cooking basket from transparent polypropylene (PP). These are some of the “safer” non-leaching plastics. This is THE device that is known for being safe from nasty chemicals. Other companies are coming out with “BPA free” baby cookers as well. But I have concerns. For example, the Magic Bullet has one. But their traditional one was (and may still be…it was last time I emailed them) made with BPA. So, with the new studies showing that companies are simply switching from BPA to other equally toxic if not more toxic sisters of BPA like BPS and labeling them as “BPA free” to confuse the consumer do we trust that they are choosing safe plastics? Do you trust a company who sends out emails stating that BPA is safe? I don’t. I want to buy from a company who has a purpose and mission of making safe products for baby.
Finally let’s talk about the benefit of making your own food!
#1- SO many moms can’t budget for organic jarred foods….they are EXPENSIVE! This is a way to have your child avoid the toxic pesticides, herbicides, GENETICALLY MODIFIED FOODS, artificial colors, flavors, preservatives in conventional baby food. These are all linked to a variety of health problems and ESPECIALLY affect small children and babies. They eat more food, drink more water, and breath more air pound for pound than adults. Clean air, water and food are so critical for their good health.
#2. Even if you don’t do organic fruits and veggies, cooking your own is cheaper, you maintain more nutrition, and you will still avoid artificial colors, GMOs (unless you feed your baby corn or soy), preservatives and other chemicals.
#3. You avoid TOXIC packaging in baby food! MANY conventional AND organic baby food containers contain BPA in the lids, PVC or other chemicals that leach into the food.
#4. It is more nutritious than jarred. Especially when you don’t steam fruits or veggies and just blend them. Heat destroys many nutrients in foods (some foods heat increases health benefits such as tomatoes but not the majority)
The last thing I want to mention quickly is I have a lot of followers that prefer to avoid plastic at all costs and use stainless steel steamer baskets on the stove. Beaba just came out with the coolest carrier for the machine to travel with…so when you travel you can make your baby food for those moms! I have dragged this thing to Hawaii, Florida and all over the place! I steam my toddlers veggies and puree my infants food too. It saves a TON of cash when you are on vacation. TONS!
Give it a try and let me know how you like it! Also, when you make your baby food…check out Wholesomebabyfood.com for recipes, allergy info and more!
